Ken Hudson Campbell, who starred in classic films like Home Alone and Groundhog Day, has been diagnosed with cancer. Now his family are asking for help with his rising medical costs.
Ken played Santa Claus in the Christmas film Home Alone alongside character Kevin (played by Macaulay Culkin). The movie star was tragically diagnosed with cancer in October. A tumor “elusively” grew in his mouth and began “encroaching” on his teeth. Now, he and his loved ones are asking fans for donations towards the cost of his treatment.

In a sweet scene near the end of the movie, Kevin asks Santa to not place gifts under the tree.Instead, wishes for his family to come back. The famous Christmas movie sees the family go on holiday and accidentally leave him behind. Kevin, who plays house all by himself, ends up stopping two robbers taking advantage of the holiday season.
Kevin heads to a local Santa’s Grotto to speak to Chris Cringle (Ken Hudson). But finds out that it’s closed for the night. He manages to track him down before he sets off in his car. He finds Mr C (Ken) standing outside, frustrated, as he has received a parking ticket.
Santa quickly pulls up his white beard to not ruin the facade, while Kevin tells him his sweet Christmas wish. Mr Claus tells the youngster he’ll ‘see what he can do’, before handing over two Tic-Tacs. It’s a funny scene for Ken Hudson amid the emotional parts of the Home Alone.

The Hollywood actor’s page has a goal of $100,000 and at the time of writing, he has raised over half of the amount needed. $65,500 has been donated by nearly 600 people.
The description explains last year he lost access to the actors union health insurance he used, and though he is now under another insurer, not every cost would be covered.

“On December 7th, he is scheduled for a 10-hour surgery, during which a large part of his jawbone will be removed, along with his lymph nodes, and part of his leg bone,” the description explains.
“Surgeons plan to reconstruct a new jaw for Ken from this leg bone, install it, and treat him with radiation. He will have a 6-month recovery period & Chemo may be needed afterwards as well.”
The celebrity could spend around a week in hospital and will be “dealing with a feeding tube, skin grafts, and a Tracheotomy.” They say they are anticipating the costs to be high for round-the-clock care, medical equipment, and many other expenses despite physical therapy and speech therapy being covered by their insurance.
A family’s plea
Concluding the description, they wrote that Ken Hudson’s cancer might affect his ability to work in the film and TV industry in the future.
His family assure donors that the money is going towards a worthy cause.
“We are asking for your help so that Kenny can use the time ahead to return to health, and spend more time with family & friends. Every prayer, positive thought, dollar, or gesture of support means the world to our family,” they wrote.
Others who have shared Ken Hudson’s fundraiser on X (formerly Twitter) for his cancer treatment include the co-creator of The Big Bang Theory, Bill Prady.
