Husband breaks down as he marks TV star wife's birthday a day after she dies

Suzanne Somers’ husband, Alan Hamel, can be seen ‘breaking down’ in an emotional video marking his wife’s birthday, just a day after she tragically passed away.
The beloved TV star, best known for her role in the sitcom Three’s Company, passed away on October 15, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family at the time of passing.

Suzanne would have been celebrating her 77th birthday on 16 October, just a day after she passed away. However, it didn’t stop her family from celebrating her big day, as they showcased via Instagram.
Her friends and family gathered around with a cake to sing Happy Birthday to the star, thanking fans for their outpouring of love in the caption.
At the end of the song, the star’s husband Alan can be heard saying: “We love you Suzanne,” as everyone bursts into a round of applause.
Hamel can be seen getting emotional after, as he places his hands over his face while looking down, breaking the hearts of fans in the comments.
The 87-year-old had given his wife a love letter as an early birthday present, as her publicist revealed to PEOPLE that Suzanne “read the poem and went to bed and later died peacefully in her sleep.”
The couple had been married since 1977, eight years after meeting on the TV show, The Anniversary Game in 1969.
The caption of the video read: “Thank you for the outpouring of love and affection for Suzanne,” they wrote. “So many of you have asked what you can do to support our family. The most comforting gesture for us is to hear how Suzanne affected all of your lives.”
The family then announced that they had set up a Tribute Book for Somers, asking fans to add their comments.
“It helps for us to hear how her legacy of love lives on in all of you,” they concluded.
Upon seeing the emotional post on their timelines, fans, and celebrity friends of the two rushed to the comments to give Alan, and the rest of their family words of support, as they say his pain ‘brought them to tears.’
Perez Hilton penned: “Alan’s pain is palpable. It brought me to tears. Light and healing to all!”
“Alan was the most amazing husband. His heartbreak is so crushing,” wrote actor Holly Robinson Peete.
“God bless you, Alan. What a great partner you were for her. Soul mates love of life,” commented another.
One user said: “My love and hugs to you all. She brought so much light into this world.”
