There was some confusion on stage before Emma picked up her award show trophy. Michelle Yeoh, who won the gong last year for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, was holding the statue.
But the 61-year-old awkwardly handed the Oscars statue to Jennifer Lawrence as she was on stage, so she could give it to Emma Stone.
However, she cleared up the moment on Instagram. Michelle explained she âwanted to share that glorious moment of handing over Oscar to you together with your best friend Jennifer!
âShe reminded me of my Bae Jamie Lee Curtis â always there for each other!â
How sweet!

My voice is also a little gone, whatever! The women on the stage, you are all incredible, and the women in this category: Sandra [HĂŒller], Annette [Bening], Carey [Mulligan], Lily [Gladstone], I share this with you. I am in awe of you, and it has been such an honour to do all of this together. I hope we get to keep doing more together.â
She joked: âI donât know what Iâm saying.â
Emma explained she had been âpanickingâ over whether sheâd win, but was told she needed to âtake herself out of itâ. The movie star said it was about the âteam that came together to make something greater than the sum of its partsâ.
