A new medical documentary series is coming to Netflix to give viewers an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes for emergency doctors, nurses, and other first responders. Emergency NYC comes from the creators of Netflix’s own Lenox Hill.

Recently, the medical drama series New Amsterdam become extremely popular on Netflix when four of its five seasons began streaming. The series takes place at a hospital in New York City, but if you want to see the real version of New Amsterdam, it’s coming in March 2023.

Below we’re sharing everything viewers need to know about the new docuseries, including its release date and time, episode count, age rating, list of participating medical professionals, and so much more.

Netflix will release Emergency NYC on Wednesday, March 29. The series will drop at 12 a.m. PT and 3 a.m. ET, though most viewers will probably watch the show a little later. Because it’s a documentary series, Emergency NYC isn’t scripted or fabricated in any way. It’s a real depiction of the fast-paced daily lives of frontline medical professionals and the sacrifices they make to balance their professional and personal lives. It’s a perspective we don’t often get to see the reality of on TV, unless you have lived it yourself.

Netflix has announced that the medical docuseries will contain eight episodes in its first season. The eight episodes will be about 45 minutes long each, though some may vary in length. Since it’s about less than eight hours total, you could binge-watch all eight episodes in a day, though you may want to spread them out as the subject matter can get heavy,

Yes, Emergency NYC is a spinoff of Netflix’s Lenox Hill docuseries. The nine-episode documentary series was released in 2020 and centered on four doctors at New York City’s Lenox Hill Hospital. In June 2021, Netflix announced that it had ordered the spinoff, which would expand its viewpoint beyond one hospital but still include doctors from Lenox Hill.

According to the series’ page on Netflix, the documentary series is rated TV-MA for language. Beyond the heightened language, the series isn’t suitable for younger viewers due to the very realistic nature of its subject matter. The series grapples with real-life matters of life and death and is intended for mature audiences.
